He was speaking at the party's final campaign and election speech in Midrand, north of Johannesburg, on Sunday night.
“We are presenting a national manifesto based on expert opinion, research and the lived experience of South Africans. Practical solutions to radically change South Africa for the better from day one in power. A manifesto sourced from trusted media and political commentators. Fellow South Africans, I say again, we are not a party of empty promises and slogans on posters. We are a party of action,” he said, adding that poverty, unemployment and endemic corruption currently plaguing the country must become a thing of the past.
Meanwhile, Action SA's Gauteng premier candidate, Funzi Ngobeni, says he has a comprehensive plan to address the many challenges facing the province.
“The Gauteng Government, led by Action SA, will privatise the implementation of innovative and decisive economic policies to create opportunities and enable businesses to create jobs, whilst working closely with education institutions to ensure the next generation is well prepared to compete in the global marketplace. Community-based initiatives in sport, arts, culture and recreation will attract local and foreign investment and free up funds for much-needed infrastructure development across the province.”
National chairman Michael Beaumont stressed that for too long South Africa had been run by incompetent governments.
“The hard truth of the past 30 years of our country is that we have been let down by a failed political system. Those in power have brought record levels of unemployment, corruption, crime and power outages, and denied millions of young South Africans a path to a better future. Those in opposition have been content to be in opposition and have led this national crisis. That is why the battle lines in this election are not black versus white, or young versus old, but old versus old.”
