Trevor Noah talks about how the entertainment industry works, especially celebrity friendships.
Speaking on the “Smartless” podcast, he said: “I've always found it weird that people try to be friends with you just because you're in a similar environment. When I first came to America, I was on 'The Daily Show' and I got invited to events and people were like, 'Oh my gosh, let's hang out, get your number,' or 'Let's have coffee,' and I'd give people my number.
“I felt like I made a lot of friends, the people were so friendly and wonderful.
“And then we never heard anything from them. We sent messages and never got a response.”
The South African comedian said most of these celebrities have changed their phone numbers but some have forgotten they have his number saved in their mobile phones.
“By the way, people in Hollywood change their phone numbers all the time. They have new phone numbers all the time!”
“This has happened a few times. I'll meet the same person a year later at another event, and they'll say, 'Oh my gosh, Trevor, we should hang out. Give me your number.'”
“And I'm like, 'I think you have my number,' and they're like, 'Oh, I changed my phone, so…' I enter my number into their phone and it pops up on the screen. They already have the number!”
