Lady Do, whose real name is Duduzile Ngwenya, is known for being outspoken and has used her social media platforms to mentor other artistes in the industry.
The Amapiano vocalist took to Instagram to advise people to work towards building wealth instead of spending their money on luxury brands.
Madame Du used her life as an inspiration to her followers.
“I decided that I would first try to earn an income outside of music, to create a business that would keep my life on track with or without music before I could fully focus on music. I had to keep my head down. People would call me names because I didn't have luxury brands, make fun of my clothes because I had less than them. I remember two people I was very close to talking about me saying their manager had recorded them and sent them to me. I still smiled and spoke nicely to them because I knew what I was doing,” she wrote.
“I'm watching my second salon being completed right now and I'm so thrilled. I'll be able to buy everything I've ever wanted! I won't have to stress about what will happen if I break my leg.”
Madame Du said she didn't mind being the only poor person in the room.
“My advice to you!!!! Don't give in to pressure and buy things that will become liabilities!!! Learn to distinguish between what you need and what you want! Don't be afraid to be the broke person in the room, it's ok!!!! I became a brand with my phone, my dreams couldn't have been bigger and I am living in God's grace now!”
“Wisdom is wealth!!!! This part of my life is for you and I to enjoy!!!! I will work harder on my brand now that I know it's safe!!!!”
