South African star Omhle Gera talks about her beauty journey as she underwent lip neutralisation surgery.
Lip neutralization is a cosmetic treatment that lightens the natural pigment in your lips for a more even, lighter tone. The procedure is becoming increasingly popular among people looking for a more balanced lip color.
Omuehle recorded the process and shared it on her Instagram account, captioning it with an explanatory note for her followers.
“The purpose of this process was specifically designed to neutralize lip color and create a lighter, more even tone (because the original color of my bottom lip was perfect, I wanted my upper lip to match my bottom lip and create a gloss-and-go effect without the use of lipstick),” she writes.
“After treatment, the tattoo will appear reddish-coral in colour but will heal to a soft, natural pink or red. It is a semi-permanent cosmetic tattoo. Colour develops over 8-10 weeks.”
The actress' followers responded in a variety of ways, with some expressing outrage and others defending her.
“Hey guys, normalize yourself with something nice. That's lip neutralization. It's harmless and has the same effect as Vaseline or Zunbook. Ahh, villagers,” wrote a follower.
