KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) has been hit by a devastating tornado, affecting more than 7,000 homes and causing major damage in six districts across the province.
The recent tornadoes have killed 12 people and caused damage estimated at more than R1.3 billion.
Amidst this chaos, internationally renowned musician Nomtsebwo Zikode has stepped up to offer much needed support to tornado victims in Tongaat, KwaZulu-Natal.

Noncebo said. Citizen When she established the Nonchebo Zikode Foundation, her aim was to help the less fortunate.
“The disaster was so devastating that we felt it was important for the foundation to lend a helping hand immediately. We felt it was vital that we donate what we could as soon as possible. The Nongchebo Zikode Foundation is providing relief by donating blankets and food packs to the victims,” she added.
The singer said he was heartbroken and saddened by the living conditions of the people of Tongaat.
“It's such a shame that people who are already less fortunate lost their homes in this disaster. It was so hard to be in the midst of so much suffering and sadness, but I'm grateful that my presence there brightened the mood a little.”
“I hope they can rebuild their lives quickly.”
Despite the difficult circumstances, Noncebo said he was touched by the warm welcome he received from local residents.
“I am humbled that people were happy to see me and I hope they can get their lives back on track quickly. I was welcomed warmly and there was a sense of hope and joy in the air.”
“I don't do this job for people's applause or reactions, it makes me feel very humble. I do it because I have a passion for change. I grew up seeing so many people suffering from poverty so I promised myself that I would do something when I could,” she said.

of Izono Zami The hitmaker said that although he had a desire to work with other organisations, the urgency of the situation led him to act independently.
“Due to time constraints, I thought it would be best to handle it myself. I wanted to respond to the disaster urgently, so I quickly decided to organize a relief effort. I sincerely hope that more organizations and individuals will step in to help.”
Noncebo said his foundation has bigger plans that he plans to announce soon.
