Limpopo's new Premier, Dr Phophi Ramathuba, says society and all political parties must work together to fight corruption and crime. He was elected Premier at the first meeting of the seventh government held at Parliament in Lebowakgomo, outside Polokwane.
Ramathuba says corruption is a crime.
“We reaffirm our commitment to be vigilant against any tendency to reverse the gains of the past 30 years. This tendency has its roots in crime and corruption. I ask you to join us in the renewed effort to fight corruption. We must do so because corruption is not just a government problem, it is a society-wide problem,” she said.

Mr Makhoma Makulupetse was elected as the new Chairperson.
Premiers have been elected in all provinces except KwaZulu-Natal. In Gauteng, ANC provincial secretary Thembinkosi Ntsiza said that after negotiations with all parties in the province, Panyaza Lesufi had been re-elected unopposed as premier.
He made the comments following the election of Mr Lesufi as Prime Minister and Ms Audrey Mospiyo as Speaker.
Nchiza says the negotiations were not easy…
“It has never been an easy road. Negotiations are never easy by nature. The South African people and the people of Gauteng have made a decision that there can be no majority party. That is the first issue. The voters' decision must be respected. So when we started negotiating with all the parties, we were not having a fishing parade. As the ANC National Executive Committee (NEC) says, 'let's negotiate with all the parties'. We are in favour of that. And we have done that very well, except for two parties that said they were not interested,” says Nciza.
