The Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP) says KwaZulu-Natal Premier Thami Ntuli has the expertise needed to move the province forward.
For the first time since 2004, the IFP is in power in KwaZulu-Natal, but this time through a provincial coalition government rather than alone.
This comes after the African National Congress (ANC), IFP, Democratic Alliance (DA) and National Liberal Party (NFP) agreed to work together to govern the province.
In the general election on 29 May, Umkhonto we Sizwe won in KwaZulu-Natal, but fell short of a majority.
IFP spokesperson Mukuleko Lengwa says service delivery is one of Ntuli's key priorities.
“We truly believe that his experience, knowledge and expertise have proven him to be someone who can move KwaZulu-Natal forward,” Henga said.
“Obviously the coalition government needs to consolidate the manifestos and ideas of the various parties that make up this government to ensure there is a clear development direction for the province, but it also needs to do the basics as well. It needs to get the municipalities on the right track, ensure water supply, rebuild the economy for the better and revitalise economic centres. eThekwini needs to play a central role,” he added.
