The Airports Company of South Africa (ACSA) has announced that it is preparing for the arrival of foreign leaders at OR Tambo International Airport ahead of tomorrow's presidential inauguration.
In accordance with safety and security protocols, and in coordination with the Ministry of International Relations and Cooperation, the ACSA said in a statement that the arriving heads of state will be received by a national guard of honor and ceremonial dancers.
The company said special convenience gates have been allocated during the week to be used by heads of government, foreign ministers and government guests arriving and departing on international flights.
“I can assure you that ACSA is ready to handle the pressures and logistics that come with the visit of a foreign head of state as well as ensure that all the necessary security checks and measures are in place for the arrival of a dignitary,” said ACSA Regional General Manager Jabulani Kambule.
“As has been done successfully in the past when hosting heads of state, a multi-stakeholder approach involving various law enforcement agencies has been put in place to activate the necessary additional security measures at the airport,” Cambre said.
Travelers are advised that access to the airport area will be restricted this week due to multiple road closures and increased police activity.
