Action SA Parliamentary Group leader Athol Trollip says former Sport, Arts and Culture Minister Zizi Kodwa must deal with corruption cases before returning to Parliament.
Kodwa, who is due to be sworn in as a member of parliament tomorrow, resigned from his ministerial post earlier this month after being formally charged with corruption.
The charges come after a National Bribery Commission report recommended he engaged in corruption involving alleged bribes amounting to R1.6 million.
Trollip said if the ANC was a responsible party, it would have instructed its MPs to deal with court cases before returning to Parliament.
He says: “The charges themselves are extremely serious and that's why the ANC set up this integrity commission for example. So if there are serious charges and allegations, it's a superficial case against him and he stepped down during the last term, why bring him back in this term until he is proven innocent? Solve it yourself. We've seen for 20 years President Zuma always saying he wants to go to court but never appeared and maintained his innocence. Go to court and sort it out. Take responsibility for your actions.”
