The Umkhonto weSizwe party says it will picket outside the Pietermaritzburg Magistrate's Court in KwaZulu-Natal.
This follows the arrest of the Pietermaritzburg district manager of the Independent Electoral Commission (IEC) for allegedly tampering with ballot papers in the recent national elections.
The party announced earlier this month that it would file a lawsuit in an international court over allegations of fraud in last month's elections.
“The picketing and protest march is legal and was initiated by our area in Pietermaritzburg in collaboration with the MK party,” MK KZN spokesperson Vincent Mdunzi said.
“This is to expose our plight and show the world how badly South Africa, and the Umkhonto we'Sizwe party in particular, has been disempowered in running and leading the country.”
The party argues that if it is legitimate for the ANC to form government despite winning 40% of the vote nationwide, then it should also be legitimate for the MK party to form government in KwaZulu-Natal.
Mdunge added: “Just in KwaZulu-Natal, given the margin, Umkhonto we'Sizwe might have been in power. If the government or the current administration had gotten 40% of the votes nationally and we had gotten 45%. [in KZN] And they [ANC] be allowed to legitimately form a government of national unity; [and so should we]That's why we say it is right that MK should be given space to form the government. What's good for the goose is good for the pair of geese.”
