ActionSA Gauteng parliamentary group leader Funzi Ngobeni said the party believes the new Gauteng executive council announced by Premier Panyaza Lesufi is a continuation of failed politics.
Mr Lesufi announced the council of 10 MEPs elected from different political parties in Johannesburg yesterday.
The council, which was formed after talks with the Democratic Alliance (DA) collapsed, includes members of the African National Congress (ANC), Inkatha Freedom Party (IFP), Patriotic Alliance (PA) and RISE Mzansi.
Ngobeni says most of the reappointed executive members had failed miserably in their previous roles.
“If you look at the makeup of this executive, you will see that seven of the members of this provincial assembly are from the previous government, a government that did not get a majority from the people of South Africa and the people of Gauteng. They failed and were punished in the elections,” he said.
“They have simply switched positions yet failed miserably in the positions they held. Panyaza Lesufi is known for his tactics but with such a track record I wonder if he can really oversee the Community Safety Department.”
