The NPA said the decision to withdraw came after careful consideration of police case files, prosecutors' reports and recommendations.
Playing hit songs Ndikohere Behind the scenes, media personality Molemo “Jub Jub” Mahlohanyane expressed relief that the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) had dropped all charges against him.
“I would like to express my deep gratitude to my legal team for their unwavering commitment to justice and truth,” JubJub said in a statement on Thursday.
The charges of rape, attempted murder and assault against Maalohanye were filed by Maalohanye's former girlfriend, Amanda Dupont, who filed a rape allegation against Maalohanye in February 2022, alleging the crimes occurred between 2006 and 2009.
Following his social media comments, three other women came forward with similar allegations. A warrant was subsequently issued for his arrest and Jub-Jub handed himself in to authorities and appeared in the Johannesburg Magistrate's Court where he was released on R10,000 bail until 2023.

A sense of relief
“This decision follows careful consideration of the police case file, the prosecutor's report and recommendations, and information provided to the NPA through the defence's statement submitted to the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP),” the NPA said in a statement on Thursday.
Following the NPA statement, Maarohanye said he was relieved and that his innocence had been proven.
“This verdict brings relief and acquittal not only to me but to all those who have supported me. The outpouring of support has been truly moving and I am grateful,” he said.
The NPA said it takes all allegations of sexual violence seriously and will not hesitate to respond vigorously to them, but noted that this is only possible “where there is relevant evidence to support the allegations.”
“Unfortunately, in this case, after further evaluation of the available evidence, the charges were dropped as there was no prospect of successful prosecution,” the NPA statement concluded.
talk Citizen Last year, Jubjubu's lawyer, Ntsako Baloyi, said the allegations were fabricated.
“Listen, nothing like that happened. This is a trumped up charge,” Baloyi said.
Baloyi added that Jubjab was fine but simply shocked by the unexpected charges. “He accepts that there is a conspiracy to bring him down,” Baloyi said at the time.
