Midnight Uzo has teamed up with the legendary Professor for a new hit song.
The offspring of Mzansi politicians are making a name for themselves in the music industry, with stars like DBN Gogo leading the way.
Joining the group is former Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini’s daughter, who recently released the hit song “ Yes.
Popularly known by his stage name Midnight Uzo, the singer, lyricist and trombonist features kwaito legend Professor on his new song.
Midnight Uzo said Yes It's a love song about wanting to meet a special someone.
“People can interpret it however they want in their lives,” she explained.
“It may be about missing your partner, your family, your friends, but essentially it's about longing for love,” she said.
The 28-year-old musician stressed the importance of featuring music legend The Professor on his song.
“Professor's inclusion of his unique kwaito voice on the song made all the difference. The song has an international sound and his lyrical talent makes it accessible back home,” she added.
As well as being a musician, Midnight Uzo is also a brilliant academic – she is currently completing her Honours degree in Musicology at Stellenbosch University.
She said her love for music began at a young age and was nurtured by a musical family and a mother who encouraged her to follow her dreams.
Alongside his musical career, Midnight Uzo is also a radio DJ host and producer, a world champion choral singer with the Stellenbosch University Choir and an advocate for the LGBTQIA+ community.
She also recognized her connection to ancestral spirits and embraced her calling as a sangoma (healer).
