Zandile Khumalo has reacted to seeing his name on the list released by the Ministry of Sport, Culture and the Arts.
The singer, her sister Kelly Khumalo, Makhatji and many other artistes were beneficiaries of funds distributed by the department, which is why their names were writ large on the list.
Zandi took to Instagram to speak honestly about the R20 000 she received from police.
“The Minister has told me that I am not responsible for anything 😭😭😭 Guys, I only got R20,000 legally and everything is wrong and I'm sure arts and culture conservationists think so too. Am I OK?”
“The Department of Arts and Culture made a call for applications for people who lost their jobs and income during that horrible, horrible time and we applied, complied and were granted. At least that's how it felt for me, that's why I wanted the $200,000. I'm insane. I wish I could sue this department and bankrupt them. I can't do this. Minister please help me,” she wrote.
Besides Zandi, Makhadzi also issued a statement denying having received R203 000 from the DSCA in the past 14 months.
