Khumalo said he received R20 000 from police.
Minister Gayton McKenzie's recent release of the list of COVID-19 relief recipients, which included celebrities such as singer Zandi Khumalo Gumede, has sparked mixed reactions.

Earlier this week, the Department of Sport, Arts and Culture published a list of Covid-19 relief beneficiaries, revealing that more than R72 million had been paid out to 3,962 artists in 2020-2021.
Zandi, who received R20,000, said on Instagram on Wednesday that she did not understand the fuss surrounding the matter.
“In my case it was only R20 000 and I got it legally… Can't we lose sleep over this? Stop toying with us. You are putting our names up like this as if we went to the police station and stole their safe.”
“There was a call for applications from the Department of Arts and Culture for people who had lost their jobs and income during that horrific and terrible time, and we applied, we complied and we were approved, or at least that's how it felt in my case,” she said.
Zandi said he had asked for R200,000, adding: “So why is there such a fuss? I really wanted R200,000 but they didn't give it to me. We are all thinking of suing the department but the department will go bankrupt and we will suffer again.”
