South African Minister of Sport, Arts and Culture Gayton McKenzie has accepted an apology from comedian David Kau following disrespectful comments made by him.
Last week, the comedian took to Twitter to slam the minister over issues relating to the comedy industry.
Twitter users were not happy with David's tone because they expected him to communicate better. Gayton was also not impressed.
David Cow returned to his social media platforms on Tuesday this week to apologise to McKenzie.
“I I sincerely apologize. I could and should have taken a better approach to addressing the issues facing the comedy industry and taking the right steps. I did not intend for my tweet to give any false negative impression or insinuation about your role.”
“The evidence of the work you've done in a short space of time is there for people to see. Whatever issues there are in the comedy industry can wait as there are more pressing issues. We trust that you will do your best to support all of arts and culture.” “I am embarrassed to have caused such unnecessary negativity and please accept my apology,” the comedian wrote.
Gayton said he appreciated the apology and looked forward to supporting the comedians.
“Thank you for your apology. I have the utmost love and respect for you and your work. I am excited about the change we can bring about with the help of people like you who have a passion and compassion for comedians. I wholeheartedly accept the apology. Let's work our magic,” the minister's response read.
