Heavy K has come under fire after he publicly criticised the lack of a music video for his collaboration with Something Soweto, “Ulele”.
The two musicians released a hit song last year but are yet to produce a music video. With Something Soweto trending on Twitter amid the controversy surrounding DJ Maphorisa's alleged exploitation, Heavy K took the opportunity to tweet him directly, asking, “Can I do a music video for 'Urele'? I've been meaning to reach out to you…”
Can I shoot the “Ulele” music video? I'm trying to get in touch… https://t.co/9bReJuOMTN

Heavy K's tweet was criticized by Twitter users who accused him of being opportunistic for choosing to address the issue at a time when Something Soweto is in the spotlight for another reason. They felt that Heavy K was trying to take advantage of the situation rather than genuinely reaching out to his allies.
In response to the backlash, Heavy K defended himself, stating that the song was a collaborative project and that he had been working on completing the music video since December of last year.

Uyahlanya, it's our song and the song is famous, we both have master shares, so what occasion are you talking about?

I've been trying to film this video since December of last year.

He concluded by saying that he does not want to face any criticism if he ultimately decides to film the music video without Something Soweto.
“I will boycott Heavy K if I shoot the music video without him. Y'all remember how I tried to reach out to you guys right after you all sorted out your family issues. So y'all promise to help me get Sam on set for the 'Urele' music video,” he wrote.
