Chikko Twala has revealed that his son, Hlongwe Twala, was involved in the death of Senzo Meyiwa.
The music producer addressed the accusations after his son was jailed for stealing from him.
While the music legend was abroad, Longwe, along with his brother, Thelo Twala, ransacked his father's house and stole equipment worth more than R200,000.
Speaking to reporters in court, Cicco said: “The steps I've taken are the steps I take as a responsible parent. My son has had a drug problem since he was about 17 years old, and now he's 39 and it's the same. Nothing has changed. He's stolen from me, he's done all sorts of things. He's been to over 30 rehabilitation centres. We as a family have tried to help him, we've tried everything we can, but he's not going to change.”
Chicco said he took in Longwe after his sister brought him home from rehab.
“I met with them as the other Ronwe had just come out of rehab. He was doing well, he was OK. We talked and they said he had to focus on his career. He is an old man, he has to be responsible and look after our business. He promised. I took him in. My sister brought him in and said he was back and OK.”
“When I returned on the 24th, many of my belongings were gone and he was nowhere to be found. I decided I couldn't take it anymore. It was time to punish him for his actions. One thing is for sure – I want justice to be served.”
Chicco Twala denies hiding his son in prison for Senzo's murder trial.
“This is my son. I would do the same even if it wasn't about Senzo Meyiwa. This has nothing to do with Senzo.”
