“Through the podcast we realised that South African history was not well documented and we wanted to be part of the change,” he said.
“This podcast is a great development for the country and it's important that the younger generation knows about it and the technology that goes into it.”
The book is co-written by McG himself and South African author Nikolaos Kirkinis.
Kirkinis has previously worked with footballer Teko Modise (The Curse of Teko Modise), Kanye Jr. (Ghetto Ninja: The Story of Junior Kanye) and Thembi Kgatlana (Strike a Rock: The Story of Thembi Kgatlana).
“Nikolaos first approached me about four years ago and we've met and discussed the story ever since,” MacG said.
“Nikolaos is recognised as one of South Africa's leading writers today and has a long track record of bringing to life the stories of outstanding black South Africans in a way that connects with all South Africans,” McG said of Kirkinis.

Book focus
The book focuses on Mac Gallagher's time in the spotlight, going all the way back to his days as a child host.
In July, Podcast and Chill with MacG celebrated its fourth anniversary, and the book also touches on how he built that platform.
“The book focuses on my career in broadcasting, including my time as a child actor, but it's not a typical biography in that sense, it's more about what we've built and how we've built it,” he said.
“The book is finished. I'm working on a limited edition first printing signing. Anyone who reorders will receive a signed copy. This is not the final printing.”
MacG says he's reading it now. Howard Stern is back Based on the life of an American broadcaster.
