In July, reports emerged that his health had deteriorated, with a close industry friend saying:
“As artists, we wish to express our support to Mr Mapaputsi and his family, however, we understand that his family respects his privacy.”

In his birthday month of February 2023, Mapaputsi visited Zola 2 Community Ground behind Zola High Primary School and Busisiwe Primary School to give back to the children at the school.
