Julius Malema has condemned the presence of illegal immigrants in South Africa.
The Economic Freedom Fighters leader recently spoke to Clement Manyatela on SABC News' Face the Nation where he spoke about the party's philosophy and other issues pertaining to the party.
A few weeks ago, Malema and his party were accused of embracing non-South Africans, and he faced further backlash after expressing his support for former Miss South Africa finalist Chidinma Adesina.
In a recent interview, Julius caused a stir by bluntly stating that everyone in South Africa must register.
“The EFF agrees that we do not want to have illegal immigrants in South Africa. Everyone's identity must be verified and if there is any wrongdoing they need to be located,” he said.
The remarks drew mixed reactions, with most mocking Malema.
“Like putting on a safety belt after an accident. Should have said this before the election. Go to hell now,” wrote a Twitter user.
“Good that he finally changed his mind but we will never vote for Ef again. Forget it,” wrote another.
Now I am sure that Julius Malema does not want to be president…I am sure that if he had said this a long time ago, more people would have voted for him. pic.twitter.com/HFAuHEqO83
