DJ Kmat, real name Koketso Masabate, is excited to be making her acting debut.
According to TshishaLIVE, KMat is part of the Jik'izinto campaign, which uses television shows, music and web series to inspire and educate young South Africans, providing them with the tools and information they need to make informed decisions about mental health, sexual and reproductive health and financial independence.
As part of the campaign, she has written a song with Dee Koala and Boolean, and she will also appear in an upcoming educational series on SABC1. Chipi.
“I've always wanted to be a presenter. I think I've always been good at public speaking, ever since college. I tried acting and then I was asked to be an extra. Now being on a show like this has really boosted my confidence,” she told the magazine.
Kumat further praised her for her acting skills.
“For a first acting role, I think it turned out pretty well and I can't wait for everyone to see it. It was scary but once I got going I had a lot of fun. I had no acting training and only had one take, but it was a lot of fun. I hope I get more opportunities to act.”
“This will help young people no matter what issues they are struggling with and help them achieve the best in life. It's very important to me to be involved in causes like this. It will have a big impact on young kids. It's rewarding to know that at least one person will be touched by this cause.”
