Boity Thulo recently spoke about his faith in an interview with L-Tdio.
The businesswoman was the podcast's latest guest and they had a conversation about a variety of things.
Boity, who came out as a sangoma a few years ago, shared her views on God and ancestors.
“These worlds can co-exist. There is God and ancestors and it's about lineage and that's what we do. We don't pray to our ancestors. I still pray to God and I still listen to gospel music. It doesn't mean you can be a God-fearing person and not fulfill your ancestral duties. These things can co-exist,” she said.
The rapper also addressed the debate over his absent ancestors.
“I had a conversation with Christians who believe the Bible says there are no ancestors and that everyone who dies is dead.”
“That feels like a story for another day because it would take hours to unpack and dissect, but personally, I didn't have the luxury of rejecting this part of myself and indulging this part. They live together,” she added.
“Some of your ancestors that you walk with still require you to read the Bible, which is why I don't understand why people think those worlds can't co-exist. They can't do one without denying the other, based on your belief system.”
