The award is named after legendary Soviet Union goalkeeper Lev Yashin, who revolutionized the position during his career with Dynamo Moscow and the Soviet Union in the 1950s and 1960s.
Yashin remains the only goalkeeper to win the Ballon d'Or award.
The Yassin Trophy was won by Brazilian international and Liverpool stopper Alisson Becker in 2019, followed by Gianluigi Donnarumma and Thibaut Courtois, before Aston Villa's Emiliano Martinez takes the honor in 2023. Obtained.
