South African rapper Emtee (real name Mthembeni Ndebu) recently took to social media to express his frustration over the delay in the release of his long-awaited album. DIY 3. In a series of posts, he slammed his record label Empire and highlighted the struggles he has faced.
The rapper, who was initially excited about signing with Empire, said the partnership did not live up to his expectations. In one of his most talked about posts, Emtee compared his time at Empire to his previous label, Ambitiouz Entertainment.
“I've been signed to Empire for a whole year now and I can't remember a single thing they've done for me. I host my own shows, but when people steal from me… , they laugh and say, “He lost everything.” No, you stole from me,” he wrote.
He went on to share the emotional toll the postponement has taken on him, explaining that his fans, friends and family are looking forward to the album's release.
“This is the worst time of my life. I can't post anything without fans asking me about the album. Ambitious was tough, but at least they didn't keep me waiting for a year.”
Emtee also used the platform to ask for help, stressing that he doesn't lack work ethic and what he needs is a supportive team that won't take advantage of him.
