Nhlanhla Mahu is focusing on a solo music career after being part of Mafikizolo for almost 30 years.
Mafikizolo, the Afro-pop duo consisting of Theo Kgosinkwe and Nhlanhla Mahu, have had a long and successful career in the music industry and have been together for over 28 years and have no plans of parting ways.
Despite losing its third member, Tebogo “Tebuza” Madingoane, in a tragic shooting incident in 2004, the group continues to grow. However, Nhlanhla has recently focused on his solo career, leading to speculation about the group's future.
Nhlanhla has been increasing his solo bookings outside of Mafikizolo and recently released a new single titled; Nithanda Wenafeaturing DJ Tira and Amitycooler.
This move sparked rumors that the duo might break up. A close friend of Nhlanhla said, “She is definitely putting more effort into her solo career and also taking on her own work outside of the duo. People still love Mafikizolo, but all the members of the group are You have the right to explore opportunities.”
The friend further fueled the speculation by also mentioning that Mr Nhlanhla and Theo Kgosingwe had a disagreement earlier this year.
In addition to her solo music career, Nhlanhla has relaunched a line of traditional wedding dresses under her clothing brand NN Vintage, further establishing herself as a distinct brand outside of Mafikizolo.
In an interview, Nhlanhla explained: “Theo and I have always had separate managers as we are unique brands within Mafikizoro. The group continues to work together and Mafikizoro as a unit has separate managers. Me and Teo both We will announce individual and collaborative projects as they become available.
She emphasized the following about her latest single: Nithanda Wena It is also associated with the launch of her Shweshwe bridal series, which showcases her dedication to both music and fashion endeavors.
While Nhlanhla's solo career is on the rise, it looks like Mafikizolo will continue, although there is still room for individual member growth.
