Internationally acclaimed and multi-Grammy award-winning singer-songwriter James Bay is coming to South Africa as part of his highly anticipated tour.
Bey will bring her soulful melodies and moving performances to audiences in Cape Town and Johannesburg next March.
talk to The Citizenthe Hold Back the River hitmaker expressed his excitement to visit South Africa for the first time.
“I was dying to finally go to South Africa. It's been a long time coming and I'm excited to experience the beautiful scenery and taste the great South African wines,” he said.
Regarding preparations for the tour, Bey said rehearsals will begin in January 2025.
“So I'm just kind of excited and trying to stay focused in preparation. We're going to be doing extensive rehearsals with the band and preparing a lot of new songs from this new album.
“But I also understand that South African audiences love to sing along, and I love that audiences love to sing along.”

Bey recently released her fourth studio album. always changinghe describes this as a reflection of his life experiences over the past ten years.
“I've been doing this work professionally for over 10 years, and I've somehow realized that I write a lot of songs as a kind of therapy. “Everything I struggle with, I can turn into a song,” he explained.
The album deals with themes of change and personal growth, with Bey recognizing the complexity of relationships and the challenges that come with them.
“While I experimented with electronic noise on my second album, my latest album focuses more on guitar solos and allows my voice to take center stage,” Bey says, noting that her sound has evolved significantly. I shared what I did.
He added: “For my third album, I took a variety of influences and blended and combined them in fresh ways. This time around, I especially wanted to play more guitar, add more solos, and put my voice at the center of the mix. Now I want to set it up.
“My sound has evolved a lot and it feels easier to make this music than ever before. Rather than thinking deeply about the sound, I just played in the studio and let the music flow naturally. .”
Future plans
Bey has won multiple Grammy Awards and achieved impressive success at just 34 years old, but she envisions much more for her future.
“I hope to experience another 10 years of the same level of success. I'm thrilled to be headlining my first arena show in the UK next February, which is a significant milestone for me. .”
He also expressed his eagerness to connect with South African fans.
“It's finally time to meet. I'm excited to be in South Africa. I can't wait to perform,” he added.
