Grammy Award-winning singer Nomcebo Zikode has collaborated with Kenya's Sofiya Nzau and Nigeria's Fireboy DML on a new single. metaintroducing a unique 3-step genre.
The three-step genre, pioneered by South African artists like Takuzin, is a bass-driven three-count rhythm that differs from the traditional four-count beat.
Blending influences of Amapiano, Afrotech, and broken beat, it delivers an immersive musical experience.
talk to The CitizenNomcebo shared that the idea for the collaboration came to him when he met Fireboy DML in Hollywood.
“We started working on this song together, and then when Sofiya came to South Africa, I thought there was an opportunity to get her involved,” she explained.

Utilizing Three Step for the first time, Nomcebo said the collaboration highlights the power of African unity in music.
“Three Steps is not just a rhythm; it is a story that reflects who we are as South Africans.
“It has been a dream to collaborate with Fireboy and Sofiya on this project. Together we want to share a part of South Africa with the world and show that the power and reach of African music is limitless.” she said.
For Kenyan star Sofiya Nzau, who brings her East African heritage metarecording this song was a memorable experience.

She said she had never met Nomsebo or Fireboy DML before recording this song.
“I met Nomcebo in South Africa while we were recording, but I only met Fireboy while filming the music video. It was great to see them and connect with them.
“It’s great to be able to incorporate my East African roots into a song that has the power to unite us all.
“meta We celebrate everything about us as Africans and are honored to share our music with the world. ”

The trio released the music video a few days ago and it has already received over 500,000 views. YouTube.
Set against the iconic backdrop of Soweto, the music video was directed by acclaimed South African duo Bongani Tshabalala and Vuyo Mpansha, with choreography designed by Zoe Mwendane and Eugene Baloyi.
Nomsebo talks about nurturing rising stars through his record label
Beyond his musical accomplishments, Nomsebo recently launched his own label, Emazurwini Productions, which specializes in developing up-and-coming stars.
talk to The Citizen Nomsebo has previously said that he aims to create an environment where artists receive fair and clear contracts and are encouraged to succeed both creatively and professionally.
“I always tell them to be humble and patient and understand that music is a business,” she said.
