Leaders of the African National Congress (ANC) are engaging with communities in the Western Cape ahead of the ANC's 113th anniversary celebrations in Cape Town on Saturday.
Party President Cyril Ramaphosa will deliver a statement at Mandela Park Stadium in Khayelitsha on January 8.
Mr Lampahosa said earlier this week that the ANC was committed to renewing and rebuilding the party.
National Executive Committee member Lindiwe Zulu outlined the ANC's renewal plan.
This annual statement outlines the ANC's goals and vision for the year ahead.
Meanwhile, political analyst Dr Ebrahim Harvey said the ANC's decision to host a celebration in Khayelitsha may not do much to gain support in the Western Cape.
Harvey said the state's electoral base has supported the DA since 2006.
“It remains to be seen how much it will help the ANC to resuscitate or restore its electoral support base in the Western Cape, especially given its dismal track record and the significant alienation of the colored working class majority from the ANC. I don't know how useful that will be given that they have been the DA's main electoral support base in the Western Cape non-stop since 2006. It seems like they're making a big difference each time, and next year, in 2026, is the local government election.”
