African National Congress (ANC) president Cyril Ramaphosa has said his priority is to establish local government for South Africans.

Ramaphosa says local government is not functioning as it should.
“Comrades, our second priority is to rebuild local government and ensure that local government functions well.As we look across the country, we see that local government, the most important branch of government, is not functioning well. “The National Executive Committee has decided that the focus needs to be on fixing local government,” Ramaphosa said.
Renewal
The party has repeatedly called for a shake-up of the NEC, saying it aims to achieve its objectives more effectively.
This comes after the party lost its absolute majority in opinion polls last year, forcing it to form a coalition government with the DA and other smaller parties to form the Government of National Unity (GNU). It is.
“The ANC intends to renew and rebuild itself in order to unite all South Africans and provide clear, decisive and ethical leadership. Thus, through all this, the National Executive Committee “I declare 2025 to be a year of renewal to make the ANC a more effective instrument of the people and to achieve the vision of the Freedom Charter,” Ramaphosa said. .
