Bontle Modiselle reviews her husband Priddy Ugly's last album, Dust.
This album is his third studio album, but it's also his last, and he gave his all to this project.
The choreographer spoke about the process of recording the album on social media.
“That's it. It feels so final. But you really did it. I'm teary-eyed as I type this because I'm not sure how much making this album meant to you. Because you know what it felt and looked like. There were hellish days and there were peaceful days where you fought for you…if there was a fight in you. And many more. In the case of , that fight was just to stay alive. The extremes of everything. Priddy — ugly. What an ending,” she wrote.
“You always said your pen is your prayer…I know God hears you, and those who hear your voice will feel you too.”
Bontle also talked about the tracklist and his favorites on the list.
I have a few personal favorites. “Falling” and “No Plan” I had already listened to his first draft almost exactly a year earlier, on the plane home from his NBA All-Star run in Utah. I cried. lol. Africa loves Mom and Dad's song “What's the Math” so of course I'm biased towards that 😂. But nothing compares to hearing her pray in Broken Home. [Afrika’s Prayer]'. He became suffocated.
“Rest In Power” is something else entirely.
“Mosha” is GLIDE 🏄🏾♂️.
“Very rude”??!! 😮💨Kumon!
It's truly “soul food”!
The “family man” between you and Tato is truly supreme.
“I Ain't Got The Answers”, “Piece for Peace”, and “Profit”??!! I lied. The whole thing is my favorite and I keep editing this caption while listening to the album 😂
The dancer expressed her gratitude to those who made the journey beautiful and motivated her husband.
“Thank you to those who have held you, those who have run with you, sat with you, fought with you, walked your journey with you. Thank you to those who have mocked you. You also added fuel to your fire. Your contributions to this body of work are all beautiful.”
