A cameo from Uzair Ahmed enlivened the final power play. The batsman hit 3 sixes in 25 balls from 8 balls. Norton removed him but, buoyed by Gould's late charge, Scotland were heading for a strong finish. His fighting 97 was the second highest total at this ground in this tournament. Norton's 3/48 and Kwena Mapaka (2/53) were South Africa's standout performances.
Steve Stork came after me, firing his gun with all his might. He smashed his 50 in just 13 pitches. The right-hander hit a 4-ounce six off the first four balls of Qasim Khan's second over, but his slash to the leg side missed the boundary and went for four. There was little relief on the final ball of the over as Stoke smashed yet another big six.
His partner Luandre Pretorius was also in good form with some big hits, but Stoke's batting was on another level. He hit seven fours and eight sixes during his 37-ball 86. It was Nikhil Kotiswaran who took both openers, with Pretorius caught by Alec Price and trapped Stoke lbw. However, at that point South Africa was well above the required rate.
Adi Hegde provided another breakthrough thanks to Tristan Rous, but Dwane Marais bounced back from his opener's sending off and wasted no time in scoring. He along with David Tiger helped finish the chase in the 27th over. They added 121 runs in just 13.1 overs.
The big win helped South Africa finish first in the group.
