Apple has lifted the embargo on the first wave of uncurated reviews of the Vision Pro headset, and the results were somewhat surprising. The initial “height” felt by first impressions has worn off, with reviewers praising the headset's “incredibly impressive display” and “near-perfect” tracking capabilities. In real-world situations outside of Apple's heavily regulated demos, the Vision Pro has limited productivity use cases, DRM-enabled apps, and half-baked features that indicate this device is still in the development kit stage. It looks like you are suffering from this. But most of all, it's the sense of separation you feel when using the Vision Pro. There are few options for wearers to interact and share memories in meaningful ways. Tim Cook may be right when he says headsets are inherently isolating.
“You're there, alone, having an experience that no one else can participate in,” concludes Nilay Patel in his review for The Verge. “I don't want to work at Vision Pro. I work with other people and I'd rather be here with them.”
