Palworld is the viral “Pokémon with guns” game, making it the largest third-party product released by Microsoft on Game Pass. The game has sold 12 million copies on Steam and 7 million on Xbox since its release on January 19, according to developer Pocketpair. One million copies were sold in the first eight hours. Engadget reports: In addition to being the largest third-party Game Pass launch in history, Palworld also had the largest third-party day-one launch on Xbox Cloud Gaming (included in Game Pass Ultimate). The highest peak since the game's launch was his nearly 3 million daily active users on Xbox. According to Microsoft, it was the most played game on the Xbox platform during the same period.
Palworld uses Pokémon-esque characters and themes, enough to catch the attention of Nintendo's lawyers. There are battles against monsters similar to those in the Monster Collection series, and there is also a feature that allows you to capture monsters in a sphere after victory. But Palworld also contains some scathing social commentary, incorporating themes never seen in Pokémon, such as labor exploitation. “Don't worry, there are no labor laws in Pals,” the game's FAQ says. One of his trailers for the title showed players circling hard-working allies with assault rifles. “Creating a productive base like this is the secret to living a comfortable life in Palworld,'' the narrator says.
