The SD Biosensor World Wheelchair Curling Championship 2024 continued with the playoff stage on Friday 8th March.
Preliminary rounds were held at Gangneung Curling Center in the afternoon, and semi-finals were held in the evening.
qualifying game
South Korea faced Norway in one qualifying match, and Latvia faced Sweden in the other.
Korea vs Norway
Korea started with two points in the first inning with Yang Hee-tae's well-angled tap to score the last goal. After Norway scored two runs in the second inning, Norway got a single when South Korea's double takeout failed. After another steal by Norway, the teams went into halftime with Norway leading 4-2.
In the fifth inning, Yang failed to make a takeout, allowing Korea an additional point. After a blank sixth inning, Korea got a single on Yang's hit.
Norway got a single with a perfect takeout in the eighth inning, advancing to the semifinals. Norway 6, South Korea 3.
After the win, Norway's Ole Fredrik Siversen said: Our game plan was they would score two points in the first end and then we would get two points back and steal, steal, steal. Latvia vs Sweden

Afterwards, Sweden's Kristina Ulander said: That's excellent. It was a great game. We started very well, missed a few stones, but they came back and it was a tight game until the end. I was so nervous! “
Semi-final
norway vs china
Chinese skip Wang Haitao hit two perfect stones in the first end, first on a hit and roll and then on a draw, scoring two points. In the second, Jostein Stordal completed a hit-and-stay and Norway added one point.
The third end is now blank. In the fourth, Wang beat his guard with his last shot, giving up two goals and giving Norway a 3-2 lead at halftime.
After China scored one run in the fifth inning, Norway added two runs in the sixth inning to take a 5-3 lead. In the seventh, Norway had King on base on a tie attempt, stealing second to make it 7-3. Norway defeated China in the 8th inning to advance to the finals. Norway 7, China 3.
After the win, Norway's Geir Arne Skogstad shared her thoughts on qualifying for the gold medal game: The last time he visited was in 2008 and it was still great. can't believe it! sweden vs canada

In the fourth, Sweden's Marcus Holm tied the game at one point and led 2-1 at halftime. After a blank fifth end, Canada scored twice in the sixth to take a 3-2 lead for the first time.
In the seventh inning, Sweden's Holm got an out with a hit-and-stick, and Canada got a single. 2 after Canada's 4 and Sweden's 7.
Canada defeated Sweden with a stone in the eighth inning, clinching a spot in the gold medal final. Sweden 2, Canada 4.
After the semi-finals, Canada's Gil Dash said: This is my second year participating in the World Championship and my second final. Aim for gold.
“The difference today was the calls our skip made and the shots Ina and John made. They were great. And that's what made the difference!” he added.
Tomorrow (March 9) is the final day of competition, with two medal games taking place. Norway and Canada will face off for the gold medal and world title, while China and Sweden will face off for the bronze medal at 11:00 (KST).
