The presidential inauguration, which will be held today at the Union Buildings in Pretoria, is expected to take place with all the pomp and ceremony befitting a new Head of State and Government.
This will involve the participation of the South African National Defence Force (SANDF), with the entire battalion pledging allegiance to the Republic of South Africa and the country's commander-in-chief, President-elect Cyril Ramaphosa.
The battalion is made up of the South African Army, Air Force, Navy and Military Health Service, including the National Honour Guard and its military band.
The Air Force is set to fire a 21-gun salute to mark the inauguration of South Africa's seventh government.
President Ramaphosa, who was elected for a second term in the May 29 election, is also due to inspect a South African National Defence Force battalion in what will be an extensive flyover.
Meanwhile, several Southern African Development Community (SADC) leaders, including Zimbabwean President Emmerson Mnangagwa, Cuban Vice President Salvador Valdes Mesa, Eswatini King Mswati III, Côte d'Ivoire Vice President Tiemoko Meiriet Kone, United Republic of Tanzania President Samia Hassan and Nigerian President Bola Tinubu, have already arrived in the country for the inauguration.
The hearing is scheduled to begin at 11am.
