Stephen Phiri's family has filed a case of murder.
After appealing for help searching for a missing person earlier this week, media personality Penny Levien is currently mourning the death of her friend Stephen Phiri.
“We asked for help yesterday. We foolishly lost our beloved Kopano, Stephen Phiri. A son, a brother, a friend.
“Thank you everyone for your prayers and all the support you have shared with us. What a surreal 24 hours,” Levianu said on Saturday, the day Phiri was pronounced dead. I wrote it on my X account.

On Saturday, Phiri's family issued a statement after several days of searching.
“Despite our collective efforts and a public search to locate him, the family can now confirm that Stephen has left us.
“A murder and missing vehicle case was investigated by police as we seek justice for this tragic loss.

“We would like to express our gratitude to everyone who helped search for Stephen during this difficult time. Your support has been invaluable,” the family said in a statement.
Pili's family asked for prayers and further support during this difficult time.
“Further details regarding Stephen's burial arrangements will be communicated to everyone at the earliest opportunity,” the statement concluded.

“I don't like anyone's will for this,” a heartbroken Levianu wrote in an Instagram post.
