Gugu Gumede underwent weight loss surgery
Gugu Gumede successfully lost 30kg in 4 months Sleeve gastrectomy – a surgical procedure for weight loss.
The actress posted a video on her YouTube channel explaining to the public why she underwent surgery.
She described the death of her mother and how it had caused her to withdraw into her shell for so long: She was four months pregnant when her mother died.
“Those who know me know that I lost my mother suddenly in September 2021 and I took a big break from social media and was in isolation. The content I was posting was work-related,” she said.
“Then I couldn't come back and show a lot of myself. I had just had a baby and I was protecting her. I didn't want people to get into our little bubble, so I just… I stayed in it.”
Gugu said that after she stopped breastfeeding, she started gaining weight, which she wasn't happy about.
“It also came from me stopping breastfeeding. No one told me that I was at risk of gaining weight if I stopped,” she said.
“I wasn't feeling well and my legs were hurting. Every time I went to bed at night, my heart was pounding. I have high blood pressure and unfortunately it runs in my family so it was very scary,” she added. Ta.
“I knew I was at high risk of becoming a chronic patient.”
Gugu Gumede said she had to decide to lose weight because her work and time with her children didn't allow her to exercise or control her food intake.
“I wanted to be able to have portion control. I didn't want to just lose weight and have the problem of portion control. I needed that help, so I wanted to get it done.” ” she added.
The actress said that although the journey has been tough, she is happy with her decision.
