Professional darts player Adam Smith-Neill has been suspended by the Darts Regulation Authority for allegedly assaulting an opponent at the end of an amateur event on Saturday.
Video footage shared online appears to show the 30-year-old British fighter throwing punches at an event in Nuneaton.
Smith-Neal, ranked 82nd in the world, has been suspended from “participating in or competing in DRA-sanctioned events.”
He can appeal this decision and will face a disciplinary hearing.
DRA, the darts governing body, said: “On 12 March 2024, DRA Chairman Nigel Mawer took the decision to suspend Adam Smith-Neill from participating in or competing in DRA-sanctioned events.
“This relates to an allegation that he assaulted another player at the end of the match at an amateur event in Nuneaton on March 9, 2024.
“He has the right to appeal the suspension decision and will face a disciplinary hearing at a date to be arranged in the future.”
Smith-Neal, who regained his PDC Tour card last year after a five-year absence, will miss Rounds 5 and 6 of the Players Championship next week in Hildesheim, Germany.
“PDC is aware of a video of an unaffiliated event featuring Tour Card holders that is circulating on social media,” a PDC spokesperson said.
“The Darts Regulatory Authority is aware of this matter and is investigating it appropriately.”
