A collapse of the Irish batting line gave Afghanistan a 117-run victory in Sharjah and a 2-0 victory in the one-day international series.
On Tuesday, Hashmatullah Shahidi, 69, and Rahmanullah Gulbaz, 51, led Afghanistan to a 239-9 victory.
Paul Stirling hit a half-century and Curtis Campfer had 43 hits as Ireland succumbed from 93-2 to 103-8.
Ireland were beaten by spin duo Mohammad Nabi (5-17) and Nangeyaria Karote (4-30).
Ireland achieved their first Test win by defeating Afghanistan, but lost the first ODI and were eliminated in the second match on Saturday.
Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran, 21, scored 62 for the first wicket and after falling to 96-4, another impressive partnership this time saw Shahidi and Nabi, 48, score 99 as Afghanistan I started on the path to a competitive point total.
Mark Adair was the Irish bowler of choice with 3-51, followed by Barry McCarthy with 2-42.
Ireland's response looked to be in good shape until Nabi and Carote broke through the middle order and effectively decided the match.
The Irish suffered a heavy defeat with 15 overs remaining, with Stirling (50) and Campher the only batsmen to reach double figures.
Each team will play three T20 matches starting Friday.
