Despite leading Sunrisers Eastern Cape to consecutive SA20 titles, Proteas T20 captain Aiden Markram will not captain Sunrisers Hyderabad in this year's Indian Premier League (IPL). It disappears.
Australia's fast bowler and World Cup-winning captain Pat Cummins will replace Markram in this year's tournament, which is scheduled to begin on March 22.
Last season under Markram, Hyderabad finished bottom (10th) with just four wins out of 14 games.
Cummins, who led Australia to victory at the Cricket World Cup in India last year, withdrew from last year's IPL to focus on international cricket, but has re-entered the auction for the 2024 season.
The 30-year-old was sold for a record 2.05 billion rupees (approximately $2.47 million) at the IPL auction in Dubai in December, making him the highest bidder in Hyderabad's history.

2024 will be Cummins' seventh season in the IPL, who was previously part of Kolkata Knight Riders.
Markram led sister franchise Sunrisers Eastern Cape to their 20th consecutive SA title with an 89-run victory over Durban Supergiants in a sold-out final at Newlands last month.
Markram may struggle to find a place in the starting XI with the Sunrisers squad featuring Cummins, Travis Head, Glenn Phillips and Proteas duo Heinrich Klaasen and Marco Jansen.
In addition to the latest captaincy change, Hyderabad have also named a new head coach, with former New Zealand left-arm spinner and captain Daniel Vettori taking over from West Indies great Brian Lara.
Former New Zealand all-rounder James Franklin has been appointed bowling coach, replacing former Proteas fast bowler Dale Steyn.
Hyderabad will begin their IPL campaign against Kolkata Knight Riders on March 23 at Eden Gardens.
