The South African Police Service (SAPS) has confirmed that six suspects have been arrested in connection with the murders of AKA and his friend Tibbs. A year after their untimely deaths, SAPS has released another major update on the case.
KZN SAPS chief Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi told a news conference that four suspects were in custody and two others were still awaiting repatriation in Eswatini.
AKA's murder suspect allegedly paid R800,000
Police have laid out a timeline of what happened and how the suspects carried out the attack. However, police revealed that the “master of all” coordinator had paid off all the suspects.
The six suspects include two shooters, two observers, a coordinator, and organizers of firearms and vehicles. It looks like the coordinator gathered the team and made a call. But the dots are still not connected regarding who is giving the instructions.
However, police have not revealed how much they paid the suspect, and many are trying to connect the dots in this case. Eswatini news outlets later revealed the alleged amount, although police kept the amount secret. AKA murder suspect was reportedly paid R800,000.
Rumors from Eswatini say there is evidence of payment transactions. However, all suspects are scheduled to appear in court on Thursday. Police have not yet released details of the court proceedings.
