Tony Forbes, father of AKA (real name Keenan Forbes), has reflected on his son's affair with media personality Bonang. The rapper, who was dating DJ ZInhle at the time, was pregnant with their child Cairo.
On this week's Revealing podcast, Tony opened up about his son's high-profile relationship with the popular TV star. The relationship made headlines in 2015.
Apart from Zinhle and Bonang, AKA went on to date Anele Tembe and Nadia Nakai until his untimely death in 2023.

“I cried”: Aka's father talks about rapper and Bonang's affair
Tony Forbes, on his podcast Within With Hazel, shed light on the scandalous allegations that his son had an affair with Bonang Matheba in 2015 while his girlfriend DJ Zinhle was pregnant.
The father-of-three described it as a “difficult time” and claimed she felt “hurt” towards Zinhle.
he said: I was also disappointed that he didn't acknowledge it at the time. I said, “Don't label the mother of your child as a liar.'' Come out and admit it. ”

AKA finally admits to the affair in an interview Real talk with Anele In 2018.
Tony went on to explain his relationship with AKA's new girlfriend.
He continued: “I never had any animosity towards Bonang and she never treated me badly. Whenever I went to their place, she welcomed me.'' I tried to make her feel included. I embraced her and accepted her as Keenan's partner.”
She added, “It was his choice. It's not up to me to decide who my children's partner will be. He chose Bonang, and although I was disappointed with how things turned out, I accepted it.'' I had no choice.”

“Zinhle is family.”
Although Bonang no longer appears, DJ Jinru still appears thanks to his “Blended Family” relationship.
Tony continued about Cairo's mother: “For me, she is her family. She is the mother of my grandson. I now love her as her own family.
“Zinful will always be in my heart.”
He added that he had “no animosity” towards Bonang.

Aka and Bonang: connection and separation
In 2015, AKA and Bonang Matheba announced their relationship. The high-profile relationship was unstable and began and ended on awkward terms.
According to Zinhle, AKA's relationship with Bonang began with an affair when she was pregnant with their daughter Cairo, a charge he admitted years later.

AKA and Bonang broke up in 2018 over his girlfriend's cheating allegations.
The rapper later released a diss track called “. beyoncein which he threw shade at Bonang's nickname, “Queen B.”
Although he did not reveal her name, he also accused his famous ex-girlfriend of witchcraft, claiming she found a “rock” in his wardrobe after their breakup.
