Today (February 29, 2023), five of the seven suspects in the murder of Keenan “AKA” Forbes made their first court appearance. The rapper was shot dead last year in the Wish on Florida suburb of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal. His father, Tony Forbes, was among those heading to court, causing a stir among social media users.
This comes after a video of him seemingly snogging Police Minister Bheki Cele, who was also present in court, went viral.
Many people shared their thoughts on the video as they debated whether Tony harbored bad feelings towards Cele.
Would Tony Forbes have disrespected Bheki Cele in court today?
After a year of investigation, an arrest has finally been made in the AKA murder case. Earlier today, two suspects and three accomplices accused of carrying out the murder made their first appearance in court.
The identity of the person who commissioned the hit song remains unknown, but fans of the late rapper have welcomed the progress.
The rapper's father, Tony Forbes, also headed to court to face his son's alleged murderer. Video footage of him entering the general gallery went viral.
In one photo, he appears to ignore a handshake from Police Minister Bheki Cele and instead shake hands with General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi, who was sitting next to the minister.

In the comments section, social media users were quick to ridicule Bheki Cele and also criticized her for “not doing enough” to move forward with the case.
“Bati, because he was on the same plane as Cele, but Mina Giti, he was the first to shake hands with Mkwananzi because he did the most.”
Some pointed out that Tony had already greeted the minister.
“Apparently, he had already said hello because he flew with us from JHB in the morning.”
“He left himself hanging.”
