AKA's murder case has been adjourned to next Friday for bond verification.
Five of the seven suspects arrested for the murder of the rapper and his friend Tibbs appeared in the Durban Magistrates Court today.
The suspects are Lindokuhle Thabani Mkhwanazi (30), Lindani Zenzele Ndimande (35), Siyanda Eddy Myeza (21), Mziwetemba Gwabeni (36), Lindokuhle Lindo Suspect Ndimande (29).
They are charged with murder, conspiracy to commit murder, attempted murder, and illegal possession of firearms and ammunition.
The defense attorney said, “Your adoration, the accused may be granted bail, but what will happen to them once they return to the community?” Additionally, the proceedings are being broadcast live, putting the defendant's life at risk. ”
The defense also asked the court to have defendants 1, 4 and 5 held at Chatsworth Police Station rather than Westville Jail pending bail applications.
“It is difficult to consult the accused when he is detained in Westville,” the defense said, with accused number 4 complaining that he was not being treated very well.
However, the judge reminded the defense of defendants 2 and 3 that they were already serving time in prison on separate matters.
“Unfortunately, we can't help the gentleman. We can't move them from prison to solitary confinement. It's going to be difficult,” he said.
