The AKA incident shows the capabilities of the South African Police Service.
Arrests have been made in the AKA and Tibz murders and several suspects are expected to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court. He was killed in a shooting outside Wish (a restaurant in Durban).
SAPS thanked hard-working police officers, including investigators who worked tirelessly to uncover evidence.
This is why this is a win for SAPS and a good thing for South Africa.
AKA's story shows the power of SAPS
The murders of rappers Keenan and Tebelo Tibbs Motsoane, also known as Forbes, occurred on February 10, 2023.
Police investigation led to successful arrests and seven suspects were arrested. The National Police Commission welcomes the arrest and the tireless efforts of investigators and police officers.
The arrest came just a year after the murder.
The suspects are next scheduled to appear in the Durban Magistrates Court.
Alias Case: SAPS Speaks
The South African Police Service (SAPS) thanked the officers who worked tirelessly to solve the incident.
Minister Bheki Cele said some of the police officers involved had not slept for more than 48 hours. These officers served justice and sacrificed their time to do so.
Lieutenant General Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi also thanked the officers at a press conference.
Mr Mkhwanazi stressed the need for a thorough police investigation and said any questions regarding the trial should be referred from there to the National Prosecuting Authority.
Without SAPS, the perpetrators might have escaped.

Keenan, also known as Forbes, was born on January 28, 1988.
Considered a rising star in the rap world, his first album “Altar Ego” was released in 2011. His single from this album catapulted him to stardom and made him one of the biggest artists on the local scene.
AKA's murder occurred on February 10, 2024.
Although AKA's death cannot be undone, it could mean progress for South Africa's justice system.
