Police Minister Bheki Cele announced that six suspects have been arrested for the murders of award-winning rapper Keenan “AKA” Forbes and his friend, chef and entrepreneur Thebelo “Tibs” Motsoane.
The two were shot dead on February 10, 2023, outside the Wish restaurant in Durban.
In an address to reporters Tuesday night, Cele said the suspects were linked to other murders.
KwaZulu-Natal Police Commissioner Nhlanhla Mkhwanazi said the investigation revealed that the musician was followed from the time he landed at Durban's King Shaka Airport on February 10, 2023 to a hotel in Umhlanga and then to Wish restaurant. He said it was determined that he had been followed and shot dead there.
Four of the suspects are scheduled to make their first appearance in the Durban Magistrates Court on Thursday.
Mkhwanazi said two of the suspects were arrested in Eswatini and were not yet in the country. He added that they were still searching for a seventh suspect.
The Forbes family declined to comment on the latest developments.
