Star All Blacks winger Seb Rees is very close to joining French side Montpellier when his contract with the New Zealand Rugby Union expires at the end of the current campaign, according to a new report.
Rugbypass reported that Rees could sign for Montpellier.
Rees suffered a serious knee injury last year and had to undergo surgery, which prevented him from playing in the World Cup. However, he made a successful return to the Crusaders earlier this year, scoring three tries in his first two Super Rugby Pacific matches.

One of the most lethal finishers in the world, with 23 caps, 15 tries and 49 touchdowns in 62 games for the Crusaders, Rees is a talent that any team would want to have on their books.
Montpellier are believed to be in advanced negotiations with Rees.
A move to France would mean Reece would not be eligible for All Blacks selection under current rules.
All Blacks star aims for explosive comeback
Rees has made his comeback from injury stronger than ever and has made a great start to the Super Rugby campaign.
“1000 percent.
“If anything, it's going to be even better,” Reese said, according to Stuff.
“I can tell you right now because with the way I've been training and the time I've had in rehab, I've far exceeded most of what I should have done. I ran at top speed the other day, and that's the speed I normally run in competitions. It was speed.
“I've heard stories of people, and I've seen people who come back and don't perform to where they left off, and I've seen people who come back and get excited. All of this is about how much you really want it. It depends on who you are and how much you want to show people that you're still here. I'm 100% sure you'll be back.”
Montpellier are in the market for a promising outside back after failing to sign Huw Jones.
