The African National Council (ANC) in the Eastern Cape says the party's focus is on ensuring people have access to quality basic services. This is in anticipation of the state's seventh administration.
The ANC Eastern Cape Provincial Executive Committee (PEC) Lekgotla was held for two days in Gkebela, where party members and alliance partners discussed key challenges facing the province. Lekgotla appreciated the efforts of the sixth government to realize the ANC's priorities.
The party praised the state government's successes, including improving indicator results to more than 80% and reducing the unemployment rate.

As the party heads towards the much-awaited next general election, state chairman Oscar Mabuyane has called for unity among party members to achieve victory.
The instability caused the people to lose faith in the ANC, which resulted in it losing out to other regions and all metropolitan areas. And there is an eternal class that we must focus on, one that we have developed and increased over the last 30 years, and it is there as a powerful force. ”
ANC provincial secretary Lulama Ngukaitobi said the party was aware of the province's water scarcity problem and was working around the clock to find a solution. Ngukaitobi stressed the importance of finding ways to provide reliable, clean water to all residents in the state.
“The phenomenon of the crisis of roads, especially bridges and rural roads, due to climate change remains a major challenge. Rather, we are considering new strategies to take a local approach and allow states and locals to integrate road funding.”
The two-day lekgotla will conclude on Sunday.
