Anglo American Platinum (Amplats) announced on Friday that Sayuri Naidoo has been appointed CFO and managing director, effective May 1, replacing Craig Miller, who has been appointed CEO. did.
Mr Naidu has been acting CFO at the world's largest platinum producer since October and has been with Anglo Group for more than 15 years.
Her roles include financial controller for Amplats and chief accountant for corporate development for Kumba Iron Ore, where she has helped steer the finance team through various strategic finance programs, Amplats said in a statement.
Chairman Norman Mbazima said in a statement: “Following an extensive internal and external search, I am pleased to be able to warmly welcome Ms Sayurie to her new role.” “We are confident that she will successfully execute her new responsibilities while continuing to add value to the Anglo American Platinum leadership team.”
The appointment comes as Anglo American is in the sights of BHP, the world's largest mining company, whose non-binding proposals include breaking up the Anglo subsidiary. Anglo has rejected BHP's proposal as “opportunistic”, but there is still the possibility that another offer will be made.
